Twenty-one people complained to the national television regulator, Ofcom, that the explicitness of the sexual scenes breached obscenity and broadcasting regulations, and that the series imparted "inappropriate information to vulnerable young girls." However, Ofcom ruled that there was no rule banning the showing of genuine sexual acts on free-to-air television, and that "in [their] view the portrayal of sex in this programmer genuinely sought to inform and educate", concluding that "whilst the visuals were explicit at times, nothing was transmitted in a manner that could be construed as having the potential to harm people under the age of eighteen", particularly given its context as a serious factual programmer, and as such it was ruled that the episodes were not in breach of any broadcasting regulations.

A Girl's Guide to 21st Century Sex is a documentary TV series about sex, which ran in eight episodes on Channel Five and was presented by Dr. Catherine Hood.[1][2] The 45-minute long episodes (including advertisements) were broadcast on Monday nights. The series started on 30 October 2006, with the final programmer broadcast on 18 December 2006.

Each episode explained a sex position and covered a sexually transmitted disease. Additionally the following topics were discussed: sex among handicapped and overweight people, penis enlargement devices, penis enlargement surgery, sexual violence against men and penis removal, tantrum sex, the g-spot, erectile dysfunction, sex reassignment surgery, cosmetic surgery of the vagina (labiality), swinging, lichen sclerosis, the use of recreational drugs during sex, male homosexual sex in public toilets, full body plastic wrap bondage, and sex dolls.

The programmed included close shots of the male and female body as well as footage of sexual intercourse and ejaculation filmed with an internal camera placed inside the vagina.. These scenes were filmed using Australian-born pornographic actress Elizabeth Lawrence and English-born pornographic actor Stefan Hard.

Sexual pleasure

Sexual pleasure is the pleasure a person derives from any kind of sexual activity, most commonly through orgasm. The most common pleasurable sexual activities are masturbation and sexual intercourse (including foreplay). Some people derive sexual pleasure from fetishism and/or BDSM

Cultural aspects

As with other behaviors, human intelligence and complex societies have produced among the most complicated sexual behaviors of any animal. Most

people experiment with a range of sexual activities during their lives, though they tend to engage in only a few of these regularly. Most people enjoy some sexual activities. However, most societies have defined some sexual activities as inappropriate (wrong person, wrong activity, wrong place, etc.) Some people enjoy many different sexual activities, while others avoid sexual activities altogether for religious or other reasons (see chastity, sexual abstinence). Some societies and religions view sex as appropriate only within marriage.

Sex and the Single Girl is a best-selling book by Helen Gurley Brown, published in May 1962. Vaguely autobiographical, it encouraged women to actively pursue a full single life, which included acquiring a career, gaining financial independence and accepting one's looks. Of course, dating tips were also included.

The first British paperback edition (Four Square, 1964) includes "£ove $tory", a 32-page supplement by John Glashan.

In 1964 it was turned into a film of the same title starring Natalie Wood. The screenplay was co-written by Joseph Heller, author of Catch-22.

The movie and its film adaptation were a later inspiration for the 1997 book Sex and the City (later a television series). The book, by Candace Bushnell, revolved around single thirtysomething city dweller Carrie Bradshaw.

Human sexual behavior, like many other kinds of activity engaged in by human beings, is generally governed by social rules that are culturally specific and vary widely. These social rules are referred to as sexual morality (what can and can not be done by society's rules) and sexual norms (what is and is not expected). In the United States, attitudes towards premarital sex and the use of contraceptives correlate to religious beliefs and political affiliation.[3]

Sexual ethics, morals, and norms relate to issues including deception/honesty, legality, fidelity and consent. Some activities, known as sex crimes in some locations, are illegal in some jurisdictions, including those conducted between (or among) consenting and competent adults (examples include sodomy law and adult-adult incest).

Some people engage in various sexual activities as a business transaction. When this involves having sex with, or performing certain actual sexual acts for another person in exchange for money or something of value, it is called prostitution. Other aspects of the adult industry include (for example) telephone sex operators, strip clubs, pornography and the like.

Nearly all developed societies consider it a serious crime to force someone to engage in sexual behavior or to engage in sexual behavior with someone who does not consent. This is called sexual assault, and if sexual penetration occurs it is called rape, the most serious kind of sexual assault. The details of this distinction may vary among different legal jurisdictions. Also, precisely what constitutes effective consent to have sex varies from culture to culture and is frequently debated. Laws regulating the minimum age at which a person can consent to have sex (age of consent) are frequently the subject of political and moral debate[citation needed], as is adolescent sexual behavior in general. Additionally, many societies have forced marriage, so consent does not really figure in to the equation of a sex crime
Some people who are in a relationship but want to hide homosexual or heterosexual activity from their partner, may solicit consensual sexual activity with others through personal contacts, online chat rooms, or, advertising in select media.

For same sex pairings, the newsgroup alt.sex.stories.gay was created but was soon filled with spam. The group alt.sex.stories.gay.moderated (often referred to as "ASSGM") was launched on October 1, 1997 and developed a distinct culture and stories that are rarely posted elsewhere. Although there are a few female/female pairings posted, the group primarily consists of male/male stories; Lesbian stories are far more acceptable to ASSM readers

In biology, sex is a process of combining and mixing genetic traits, often resulting in the specialization of organisms into a male or female variety (known as a sex). Sexual reproduction involves combining specialized cells (gametes) to form offspring that inherit traits from both parents. Gametes can be identical in form and function (known as isogametes), but in many cases an asymmetry has evolved such that two sex-specific types of gametes (heterogametes) exist: male gametes are small, motile, and optimized to transport their genetic information over a distance, while female gametes are large

non-motile and contain the nutrients necessary for the early development of the young organism.

An organism's sex is defined by the gametes it produces: males produce male gametes (spermatozoa, or sperm) while females produce female gametes (ova, or egg cells); individual organisms which produce both male and female gametes are termed hermaphroditic. Frequently, physical differences are associated with the different sexes of an organism; these sexual dimorphisms can reflect the different reproductive pressures the sexes experience.

Alt.sex.stories is a Usenet newsgroup for erotic stories.

In early 1992, the only Usenet or latent newsgroup for written erotica was rec.arts.erotica, whose moderator was often too preoccupied to approve messages on a regular basis. On May 7, 1992, Tim Pierce created alt.sex.stories as an unmediated alternative
